November 5 & 6, 2016
The Manhattan Beach Police Department will host Hope in a Suitcase, a charitable event, on Saturday, November 5 and Sunday, November 6 from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
This event is a joint effort involving the Manhattan Beach Police Department, Santa Monica College Police Department, Santa Monica Police Department and the Santa Monica College Management Association to collect clothing, toiletries, and other essentials for children newly entering the foster care system or transitioning to a new foster home through the volunteer-run nonprofit organization, Hope in a Suitcase.
The Manhattan Beach Police Department will be collecting new items for children (infants to 12 years old). The items we will be collecting include new clothing for infants to 12 years old, comfort items including pacifiers, small stuffed animals, coloring books and crayons, art pads and pencils, picture books, toiletries including hair brushes and accessories, shampoo and conditioner, body wash, lotion, lip balm and deodorant. Gift cards are appreciated as well.
They will also be asking for handwritten notes of support for children transitioning into the Los Angeles County foster care system.
Chief Irvine said, “The Manhattan Beach Police Department is proud to be a partner in this worthwhile cause in support of children whose lives are in transition. By providing these much needed items, it is our hope they may find comfort during this difficult time in their lives.”
