El Segundo Museum of Art presents the opening of Experience 29: NOEMA on Sunday, June 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A noema is the object, or content, of a thought. The history of unique ‘thought-drawings’ comes to life and is celebrated on a super-sized scale.For this show, the Getty Research Institute has generously lent a selection of 15 rare books illustrating how the concept of a noema has changed over time.
CREATE: Spiral 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Explore NOEMA with family and friends, take part in a scavenger hunt, and create a unique spiral drawing using upcycled materials. Art materials are provided. All ages and skill levels are welcome.
Opening and Curatorial Remarks at 2 p.m. by David Brafman, Getty Research Institute, Rare Books Curator; Marcia Reed, Getty Research Institute, Chief Curator; and
Matthew Ritchie, featured Artist.
The art experience will run through August 27, 2017.
