SoCal Etsy Guild @ Del Amo

The SoCal Etsy Guild Pop Up Market will be at Del Amo Fashion Center on Sunday, June 27 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

It will be a day of handmade fun with local designers, live art, food, giveaways and more!

All vendors will be located below the AMC movie theater, near Forever 21 and a main mall entrance. In case of extreme rain this event will be rescheduled. Plenty of free parking is available.

Scheduled dates: May 23 – June 27- July 25 – August – September 26 – October 24 – November 28 – December 19.

Garden Concert Series

St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church presents the Garden Concert Series on Sunday, June 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. on the lawn.

Attendees should plan to arrive early and picnic on the lawn. Dessert and coffee will be hosted by St. Luke’s.

Due to the pandemic, seating will be limited, so please RSVP for the June concert by sending your name and the number of people in your party to [email protected].

Future concerts dates are July 25 and August 22.

This event is FREE to attend and there is ample free parking available.

Hermosa Beach Murals Project Unveiling & Fundraiser

The Hermosa Beach Murals Project will host the Mural #10 Unveiling & Fundraiser on Monday, June 28 at 6 p.m. at at the location of the former Bijou Theater.

The grandest and final mural will celebrate the Hermosa’s Surf & Sand Club a.k.a. the Biltmore Hotel. Artist John Pugh, who has decades of experience with public art and has completed over 250 murals, has been working for several months on the mural that will cover the entire west-facing wall of the building lastly known as the Bijou Theater. The mural measures 3,900 square feet (94.6’ wide by 45’ tall) and is painted in the Trompe l’oeil style. Trompe l’oeil, French for “deceive the eye,” is a style of still life painting that creates the illusion the subject of the painting is three dimensional, with a photographic-like quality.

Nature Walk at Abalone Cove Reserve, Saturday, July 10th, 3pm. Visit the Conservancy’s newest restoration site providing habitat for several rare and endangered species. Village Runner 4th of July 5K Run/Walk & Firecracker Dash

The Village Runner presents the annual Fourth of July 5K Run/Walk & Firecracker Dash on Saturday, July 3 starting at 6:30 a.m.

All participants will receive an Independence Day run t-shirt. There will be chip timing, age division awards and cash prizes to the top three overall male and female runners in the 5K run. All kids dash finishers receive medals too! Race packets will be available for pickup the following dates and times:
-Friday, July 2nd: Noon to 6pm at the Village Runner in Redondo Beach
-Saturday, July 3rd: 6:30am on Catalina Ave. near Palos Verdes Blvd.

Cops & Cones

July 6, 2021

The Redondo Beach Police Department Community Services Unit will host Cops & Cones on Tuesday, July 6 at Franklin Park from 2 to 4 p.m.

The Community Services Trailer will be on site giving out free snow cones to anyone who wants one. Several of the RBPD Officers will be there to hand them out and visit with the kids. Meredith (the Facilities Dog) will also be there with her handler, Sharon Rose, to spread some love and get lots of hugs. Everyone is encouraged to drop by. All Covid precautions will be observed – please wear a mask and keep a six foot distance from others.

El Segundo Summer Concerts in the Park

The City of El Segundo Recreation & Parks Department presents Summer Concerts in the Park sponsored by Chevron on Sunday, July 11 at 4 p.m.

These free concerts take place on select Sunday evenings at Library Park located in the 600 block of Main Street in beautiful downtown El Segundo. Activities begin at 4 p.m. with the music starting at 4:30 and running until 6 p.m. Gourmet food trucks will be on site and kids can stop by the gazebo for free face painting and arts & crafts provided by Camp Cowabungo Day Camp.

Pull & Thread: Art SHow

Pull & thread will host an Art Show on Sunday, July 11 from 6 to 9 p.m.

It will be a night of local artists showcasing their work. Enjoy sips and live music while marveling at the art!

Featured artists are Heather Ireland Artz is a Los Angeles based oil painter who specializes in fine art surreal portraiture, contemporary abstract and picturesque pastel beachscapes and Erin Delsigne, Film Collage Artist, is most well-known for her instant film collages using Polaroid and Fuji Instax film to create psychedelic landscapes and surreal portraiture.

The Torrance Art Museum (TAM) announces the adventurous new community-based public art exhibition ULTRA!, which opens on July 17 and runs through August 28. The Ultra! Kickoff and Museum Reopening Ceremony is on Saturday, July 17 at noon.

Torrance Art Museum serves as the hub station for the exhibition, which features more than 20 artworks from some of the region’s most exciting contemporary artists in accessible locations throughout Torrance. Sculpture, installation, video projection, and interactive experiences are among the works that visitors will find in various parks, storefronts, schools, and government buildings.

Movies Under the Stars

Art Exhibit @ Pull & Thread

Pull & Thread will host an Art Exhibit on Sunday, July 25 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The community is invited to celebrate local artist, Anthony Poon. Musician, architect, and author — Anthony Poon generates compositions of mixed media where various modes of communication and contrasting narratives collide. Through reincarnating found objects and abandoned paintings, he enjoys having a dialogue with artists that he has never met. Anthony’s art has been exhibited in California and Massachusetts and published by Van Nostrand Reinhold Press and ORO Editions. Anthony was a selected artist for the 2013 and 2020 Beverly Hills Art Show.

El Segundo E-Waste and Mulch Event

The City of El Segundo will host an E-Waste and Mulch Event on Saturday, July 31 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Public Works Yard.

There will be certified shredding trucks and all items will be shredded ONSITE! Limited to two bankers boxes (10x12x15) per household.

Unwanted electronics will also be collected including TVs, computer monitors, printers, fax machines, VCRs, etc. However, no household hazardous waste material will be accepted.

Also available will be free mulch for residents (while supplies last). This is a self-serve, self-loading service, so please bring your own cans/bags and shovel. Limit of 3 cans/bags per vehicle. If you plan to haul your mulch in an open truck or trailer, please remember to bring a tarp to cover your material.

Mychal’s Annual Luncheon

Mychal’s Learning Place will hold the Annual Luncheon on Saturday, July 31 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Westdrift.

The event features a live and silent auction, entertainment by Mychals’ students, award presentations and more.

Tickets are $100 for adults and $25 for children under 10. A table of 10 is $900.
